Overview
The Dairy Farm Specialist will work as part of the team to implement the farm management plan. It is expected that you will understand the farm’s targets and help to implement the activities that will mean the business can meet those targets.
Responsibilities
- Assist management to achieve targets.
- Supervise and coordinate the herd and technicians and upkeep of the facilities.
- Supervise, train and schedule employees.
- Work with the top management to identify opportunities to maximise farm performance and margins.
- Implement strategies to ensure milk quality dairy standards.
Health and Safety
- Ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are executed in all farm operations.
- Provide visible and effective leadership on all aspects of health and safety on all farms to ensure safety and well being of all employees, contractors and visitors to farm sites.
- Lead the team to move from a culture of compliance to a team committed to world class safety practices and behaviours.
Leadership and Talent
Effectively engage all team members in farm operations and be responsible for managing and developing talent
Be a role model the values and set expectations with peers and team members in terms of living the values in how they perform their roles.
Education
- Advanced dairy course from Ireland / Farm Apprenticeship graduate
- Degree in Agriculture from Ireland / UK / South Africa
Experience
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in assisting the management of a large dairy farm
