Production Manager – Poultry Processing Plant

Our Client  is major global vertically integrated Dairy Foods company with a 2011   turnover exceeding $US 2 Billion and a workforce numbering some 22,000 employees. Our highly successful product range is freshly delivered, from over 100 depots, to some 40,000 retail outlets serving numerous happy customers. The client is a dynamic and acquisition hungry dairy food giant. With the successful launch of our fresh Poultry products we require well-qualified personnel for this role.

The Role:

The applicant will be responsible for production / production related activities in Poultry Division at Poultry Processing Plant which shall run at speed of 24000 birds/per hour.  You will be managing the production team, managing the manufacturing process within defined safety and quality standards, achieve production budgets, with minimum wastage of raw materials, ingredients and packaging materials etc.  You will consolidate the activities of all production supervisors in order to ensure smooth operation for production and responsible for any emergencies that occur at that Plant.  You will assist the Plant Manager in preparation of annual budget proposals, providing assessment and estimates of material, and manpower requirement for the production forecasted.

Naturally, we are looking for someone with proven ability of handling a similar role for not less than 5 years in a large Multi National Poultry Company in Poultry processing plant operations working at speed line, minimum of 6,000 birds per hour or more. We envisage that you will have a degree in Poultry Science / any other relevant degree and be a Computer literate. In addition you will be a strong leader with a positive attitude who encourages others to exceed high expectations that are laid down.

This is a project based job, at a project site in a remote area.  We welcome applications from candidates who are willing to relocate on a single contract.

The Role

Working at its prestigious Bakery operation, the Divisional Manufacturing Manager – Bakery will be responsible for the production of our key bakery products in terms of quality and quantity to agreed financial and budgetary targets. You will be an experienced bakery plant manager with a demonstrable career path of achievements within a large volume bakery environment. Efficiency is pivotal to this role as you will not only be responsible for the timely production of our product range but also responsible for managing the materials and manpower requirements. Reporting directly to the operations manager and managing a team of production managers and supervisors you will work closely in conjunction with Marketing, engineering, procurement, finance, quality and other departments

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage production of quality bread baked products
  • Must have very strong baking skills – Master Baker Preferred
  • Manage packaging of products in a high volume automated plant
  • Continuous supply of products to agreed timeframes
  • Health and safety champion.
  • Establishing and enhancing plant SOP’s
  • Financial control and budgetary responsibility
  • Quality assurance procedures
  • To Identify and plan technical skill base through training and recruitment

 

Candidates must have the following:

  • Degree in food or bakery science
  • Minimum 10 year’s management experience within a high volume bakery environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree / Formal Qualification in Bakery or Technology Diploma in Food Science or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and People management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer relationship management
  • Exposure to World Class Manufacturing environment.
  • Working Knowledge in ISO 9001:2008 Quality standards / ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety.
